Tuesday Ramblings

SoullessI should be working on lovely Electronic Service Process Guides and Flow Charts, instead my mind keeps wondering back to my early morning read of the first Parasol Protectorate book, Souless. I thought it would be quite fitting to keep in line with my current Victorian reading roll, and delve into a book that has been in my queue for an upper part of two years. My first impression has not been a positive one. The author's clever writing comes off more pretentious than funny. This is a highly rated book, so what am I missing? Still very early in the book to fully judge, so I'll try to keep my opinions in check, at least until the 5th chapter.

Update:  Call me a quitter, because I gave up before the end of the first chapter.  Frankly, this book was just too painful to read any further.  The author's tone & writing style was really not that appealing to me.  Though, based on this book's average rating, I seem to be in the small minority with that opinion.
