Oh, Jeez

Yep, another Graphic Novel.  This is becoming quite the Graphic Novel year.  I hope this is just a fad, because I truly don't see a huge demand from readers; at least this one.  The only comic that I remotely liked as a kid was The Archie series.  But as long as fans keep buying, then I guess they'll keep pumping these suckers out.

I can at least see the draw of releasing a YA Graphic Novel, since a majority of the readers are young & may like that sort of thing.  And before you send me an email stating you know plenty of adults that enjoy comics, please excluded all adult men that still live with their mommies from your list of examples-Thanks. Here is hoping this doesn't deter from the release timelines of these series.  Tuck this under, For All that is Holy, Why?.

Vampire Academy: A Graphic NovelVampire Academy: A Graphic Novel

Like many other fans smitten with Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy books, Emma Vieceli ends a long day of work by curling up in her home in an Arcane Vault St. Vladimir's hoodie and drinking from a St. Vladimir's mug.

Vieceli has a more personal connection to the international best-selling young-adult series, though — she's the woman illustrating Rose, Lissa, Dmitri and the other beloved characters in the upcoming Vampire Academy graphic novel. The six-book series ended with last summer's Last Sacrifice, and has more than 5 million copies in print.

Adapted from Mead's prose by Leigh Dragoon, the Vampire Academy graphic novel (Penguin/Razorbill) is slated to be released Aug. 23 — the same day the first chapter of Mead's spinoff series, Bloodlines, arrives in stores and the same week her first baby is due.

"When I first wrote the book, all I was focusing on was the book, but I've always hoped other things would come of it," Mead says. "I was really excited to see this. You suddenly get the pictures that are worth a thousand words."
