New for Tuesday

I admit that after a slew of highly anticipated new release disappoints, I am now a bit weary & a little less enthused about my next couple of scheduled reads. Still, McGuire has rarely disappointed, so I at least have that to look forward to. I am sad that quite a few of my favorite authors have recently either changed their writing/editing style or left us with major cliffhangers that tests the patience of the most chill of readers. *Denotes books on my reading list.

Big (sort of) Kindle Update Announced

This update has been long awaited by Kindle users.  We can finally ditch those pesky Location #s, in place of real book Pages, to reference our book position. I guess if you use a lot of imagination, It will almost feel like your reading an old paperback.  Updated my Kindle and I have yet to find any book that displays Page #s, even with a new release I purchased today.  hmm.

Update: Today a co-worker came up to me to inquiring if I've seen page #s post update.  That's a big no.  From what I gather from Amazon's site, the ebooks will also need updating before we can see the change.  Funny, Nook readers have always viewed page #s.

Update II: I went wireless for a few seconds today and the new book, that previously only displayed location #s, now has page numbers co-located. I received the update via the computer, not wirelessly, so maybe more information was needed for it to work. Other older ebooks might still require a mod from Amazon for this fx to show up.

Other features include Public Notes & easy Publication of Reviews for Social Network Sharing.  You know, stuff that makes Gen-Y happy. The update is automatic for those who tend to leave their wireless on. Others who want a more immediate & direct approach, can go here to get update 3.1 now.  (This update is only for the latest Gen Kindle)

Super Release Tuesday!

And the wait is finally over, for those following the widely popular Night Huntress, Hollows, & Dark Swan Series. Also releasing Tues, the not as well known but very enjoyable writing of Williams and Harper.  You can probably guess which books I'll  be reading.  Happy Tues!

This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 5)This Side of the Grave
Book #5
Chap 1-5

One of my favorite series of the genre. Frost really knows how to steam up the pages w/ this sexy couple.  In other Night Huntress news, One Grave at a Time (Book #6) is set for release in Fall 2011.

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day

And, yesterday was Vishous once again.  Today, not a clue.

Harper throws us a Bone

Doesn't it always seem like our favorites take the longest to be released? I've been patiently awaiting news about the next Jane Jameson book and even been stalking the author's blog the last couple of months. So, when I saw that the author finally posted new info, I got a bit excited. Harper dishes about the still unnamed 4th Book & even gives us a Excerpt to whet our appetite. Due out March 2012. Awe, another year to wait.

Warning:  Spoiler rampant info, if you haven't read the 1st three books or if you don't wish to know the main plot of the 4th. Go Here.

And for those who don't want to wait another year to read something new from Harper, she has new book coming out Tuesday titled How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf.  Sounds like a light and funny read.

A Good Addiction?

While some addictions clearly cross the line into what our moral construct defines as deviant behavior (addiction to drugs, shopping, & sex), some may not be so clear cut. Reading Addiction is arguably a real phenomenon. A person can, in fact, be addicted to reading.

This is not so much like chemical addictions, however, in which the body becomes physically dependent on a particular drug or substance. Nor is it like gambling or food addiction, either, where chemical processes occur in the brain when people engage in the addictive behavior.

Merlin Returns

The Magic is Back! The spellbinding family drama series Merlin returns to television in America for their third season on SyFy (new Episodes Friday). For those across the pond, Merlin's 3rd Season has been running on BBC since last September. Check your listing for details.

I'm not much into TV or "family shows", and I hate comedies for some reason, but something about this show sort of tickles my fancy. I guess it's because their isn't much in the way of fantasy on tv already. I'm a sucker for a man with a spatha & tights.

Go here to catch-up on missed episodes.

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day

Yesterday was V.  I am going to go with Many & Payne again for today's teaser.  I'm seriously getting excited about reading this book.  At least there's going to be some really good releases coming out next week, that will help tide me over until then.

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day

Qhuinn was quoted yesterday.  Sounds like we are definitely going to be getting a lot of scenes & possibly a resolve between the two boys.  Today if I had to guess, is another Manny & Payne scene.

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day

Butch & V were yesterday. These are getting way too easy. I think I spoke too soon, because I have no clue about today's teaser.

My Favorite Word-Free

Ms. Moning is giving away a free Valentine's Day MP3 Download from her Book's Soundtrack. The song is "Valentine", & is played in SF at the moment Mac steps inside Chesters on the evening of her less-than-perfect Valentine’s Day.

Good for the 14th Only, So act Fast.

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day

The answer to yesterday's quote is The Bloodletter.  Still a big mystery who he is talking to, and who is the Bloodletter exactly?  I guess I have some re-reading to do.  Todays quote, another Payne & Manny scene?  Is it March 29th already?  shesh

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day

And the answer to yesterday's mystery...drum roll please...Manny with Payne's braid.  Huh?  Okay, I can see that with the first part, but the 2nd part still leaves me utterly confused.  Talk about kinky braiding session.

No Kindles Allowed

"At the risk of pulling-a-Groupon, I have a dream that one day my children will not be judged by their e-readers, but by the content of their character. The NY Times' Virginia Heffernan complains that many indie New York City cafes now heavily restrict, or ban outright, the use of Kindles, Nooks and iPads. Evidently, she says, too many coffee shops have had their ambience wrecked when itinerant word processors with laptops turn the tables into office space.

Full-dress computers are one thing, says Heffernan, but banning devices the size of books is going too far, and it's anathema to the character and history of cafes. By contrast, Starbucks offers free, one-click, unlimited wireless service to their patrons, making it in Heffernan's eyes 'a flawed franchise that is squarely in the public good." -NYTimes

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day Teaser

The answer to yesterday's Teaser is Manny. Ooh, this one's a bit dirty, no? Another Manny scene maybe?

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day Teaser

For those of you just tuning-in, Ms. Ward will be posting a teaser-a-day for the next 15 days from her upcoming book on her Facebook page. It's our job to try to figure out who is being quoted.

Okay, the answer to yesterday's teaser is "V". The last two quotes were sort of obvious, but today's is a little sparse. I'll need another hint to unravel this mystery. All I know, it's not John Matthew.  Hah, that's sort of gimme.

Lover Unleashed One-A-Day Teaser

Yet another teaser from Ward's upcoming book.  The answer to yesterday's teaser is Qhuinn.  Looks like we will be getting much more Blay + Qhuinn drama in the upcoming book.

Start Reading Now

If you are itching to read these hot titles, scheduled to be released on Feb 22nd, you are in luck. The authors have been nice enough to release a good chunk for your viewing pleasure. I don't know if I'll succeed, but I'm trying not to peek before I have it all to read. I might just start reading a bit, a few days prior. I think my biggest dilemma is deciding what to read first.

Lover Unleashed Teaser

Ms Ward will be posting a teaser everyday for the next 15 days on her Facebook page. It's our job to try to figure out who is being quoted. Okay I have no clue who the narrator is, or the person they are referring to. I thought this next book was suppose to be centered around Manny & Payne. Of course, that never stopped Ward from writing other side stories within the same book. Maybe this is about Blay & Qhuinn's unresolved issues.

And in case you missed it, here is an excerpt of the upcoming book.  This recent post and convo can be found by going here.

The greatest signing I never had

One of the funnier author-blog posts I've read in awhile.  Ms. Mead & her fans have a wicked sense of humor.  Check it out here.

Last-5 Top Reads

I've never put much weight on one person's opinion. Having a public forum to express your view points doesn't give any one person more credibility or importance then the next person. My opinion, although important to me, may not be worth much to anyone else, especially since there is such a varying degree of likes one person may have as compared to others. This is why I've chosen not to subject others regularly to book reviews. Having said that, sharing one's experience and impressions is sometimes a good jumping off point in finding a new favorite.

Book #5-Final

If you are fan of the series, then reading this conclusion is a must. And, if you haven't read any of these books, color me green, because you'll be able to read this entire series from beginning to end without interruption.
