New for Tuesday

Lots of releases this week, but none that have me clawing to read. Yet, I see a couple of anthologies, a series I'm currently reading, and a few intriguing new comers. I'll just have to sit most these out until I see the reviews.

Unseen (Outcast Season, Book 3)Halfway Hexed (A Southern Witch Novel)Blood Wyne (Sisters of the Moon, Book 9)Visions of Magic: An Awakening Novel

My Pick:
Book #3

A Weather Warden Spin-off.  I've read the other two books and enjoyed them, but maybe not as much as the Weather Warden books.  However, since the series ended, this will be my only indulgence into Caine's world.

Jeaniene Frost Q & A

Ms. Frost sat in with Goodreads fans on Saturday to answer some of their burning questions. You can read the full discourse here. Warning: this one's pretty long, since she spent more than a day answering their questions.

-On Vlad
You announced a while back that Vlad would have his own books, two if memory serve, I was wondering if you have a estimate timeline for their release?

Your memory is correct – I have two Vlad books under contract. Right now I’m revising Cat and Bones #6 and then I’ll write a story featuring them for an anthology coming out later this year, but after that, I start Vlad’s books. I’m really looking forward to it, and the first one is estimated to release in 2012.

Kate Daniels: Curran's POV

If you haven't heard, authoring team-Ilona Andrews, has been indulging fans with supplemental free readings to go along with their popular Kate Daniels series.  These are written in the POV of the very sexy & charismatic Beast Lord-Curran.  FYI, there may also be some additional POV readings for the Fever series in the future as well.  Barron's POV and prequel stories have been rumored.

Curran Volume I
Book #1-3

This isn’t a short story or a novella. This is a collection of scenes as a companion to the Kate Daniels series. These scenes illustrate the point of view of Curran, the Beast Lord of Atlanta.  This collection isn't meant to stand on its own as an independent work of fiction.

Curran Volume II: Fathers & Sons
                                         Between Book #4 & #5

These are Magic Bleeds (Book #4) Ending                                                    Supplementals.  Also in Curran's POV.   They                                              will absolutely make more sense if you read                                                  Book #4 first.  These were not intended to be                                              standalone reads.

Moning Dishes

Paranormal Romance shared today that Karen M. Moning recently dished with fans during a morning website talk about Shadowfever.  I'll post the link to the transcript once it becomes available.  But until then, here are a few more insights into SHADOWFEVER and what’s next! It sounds like we have a lot to look forward to, and the Mac/Barrons story is far from over! (And if you haven’t finished the book, there are SPOILERS below!)

Update: Moning's Fever Notes

Who is Mac’s Dad? Look for more about him in future books.

Is there more to the V’lane/Cruce storyline? Wait until you see what happens to C/V. KMM says she’s not nearly done with him, but warns us it’s not going to be an easy read.

What is Barrons? KMM will only say that Barrons and his guys are all the same thing. She also said that when she started the book, the paranormal romance genre was filled with vampires, werewolves etc. She didn’t want her main male character to be defined by a label, so she didn’t say what he was exactly. And she wants us — just like Mac — to judge Barrons based on his actions — not a label. “I wanted my characters to love each other but never tell each other.”

Ebook Lending

Amazon quietly announced, at the end of Dec, that they will begin allowing customers to share their electronic purchased books once with friends for a period of no longer than 14 Days. The borrower does not need to own a Kindle.  Kindle books can be read on Kindle or using free Kindle reading applications.  Not all books are available for sharing and you are still refrained from manually sending files to others due to embedded encryptions.  And just like any other regular book, the original owner will not be able to read their book while it's out on loan.  Of course Nook customers already had this option for sometime now.

Still, this is just another great reason to jump on the ereader bandwagon.  I love the convenience and portability of my Kindle.  I've saved so much time, money, and apartment/luggage space since buying my first Kindle a little over a year ago.  I also feel great that I'm playing some small part in saving the environment.  Definitely a great investment.

New for Tuesday

Book #5 (Final)

This book may be one of the best and most satisfying series conclusions I have ever read. 600+ pages and you will still be begging for more. Those that can't get enough of this series will be happy to know that there is a spinoff trilogy and graphics novel in the works.

                                   Spoiler Warning
She recently shared more details with her fans,                                            which can be read here.

New for Tuesday

 Tempest's Legacy (Jane True)Tempest Legacy-Peeler
Book #3

A humorous & sexy series that continues to keep me engaged & giggling to the very end. This is a story about a small town girl who finds out her love of water & MIA mom aren't quite that normal. This is definitely a book that I've been looking  forward to reading  during this cold winter.  Okay, I admit                                       it's not that cold here in N.Cali.

Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian, Book 3)Secrets of the Demon-Rowland
Book #3

Another great read, about a detective who moonlights as a Demon Summoner.
